recesione: Dark Water (2005)

Walter Salles - USA 2005 - drama / horror - 105min.

Japanese remake of Dark Water Hideo Nakata.
Dahlia (Jennifer Connelly) has just separated from her husband, and moved with her daughter in a huge, dilapidated housing complex on Roosevelt Island, NY
The apartment is shabby and the ceiling a bit 'musty because of a leak in plumbing. In the rainy days that followed, Dahlia will have to deal with the vengeful spirit of a mysterious girl who seems to disappear infest the building.

As we all know the American remake are little more than an excuse for people to work in times of crisis, the films themselves are totally unnecessary. This film, though made with care and well-acted, has all the usual defects of the remake made in the USA: smoothing of the mystery in all ways to try to explain every little detail (as if the viewer was deficient and will not get there alone) , introduction of non-required and totally insipid (the absurd rhyme, used countless clichés times) and boring story. You save only a certain atmosphere.
