review: Antichrist

Lars von Trier - Denmark / Germany / France / Sweden / Italy / Poland 2009 - drama / fantasy / horror - 104min.

him (Willem Dafoe, amazing) and she (Charlotte Gainsbourg, Golden Palm at Cannes for best actress) copulate regardless of the son who, attracted by the snow flakes falling outside the window of her room, leaning up to fall on the road, dying. The shock is enormous, especially for women, subject to anxiety and panic were uncontrolled. The man, who is also a therapist, trying to cure it, guiding us into his subconscious in search of her deepest fears, to try to uproot them. It seems that there is a special place to scare her: Eden, a town forest where she had spent time with his son the previous summer, while he was working on a thesis about the persecution of women throughout history. The two then go to Eden in the hope that she recovers.

There are movies that are paradigmatic of the philosophy of the author (the most obvious example is Matchpoint Woody Allen), then there are others, representative of their thinking, both as their psychology as the structure of their cognitive processes, how they wish and the reality of how their creative process ( David Lynch's INLAND EMPIRE is all these things together ) and then there's Lars von Trier's Antichrist, who is both container elements mentioned above, is something different and opposite.
This film, one of the greatest masterpieces in the history of cinema, cinema is primarily a summation of the previous Danish director: there's his obsession with looking for a unique visual style and sound of perfect shooting time, provocation scopic and senses in general, fantastic allegorical tale disguised as a hyper-realistic story.
With a little more.

Already from the title, the film highlights the peculiarity of being a film against: against the director's previous film, against cinema in general, against Christ. Lars von Trier, the "Great masturbation of the screen," goes against everything and everyone, alone and desperate, with a confusing antifilm, disgusted, upset, shocked, devastated. Back from a deep depression, the director creates a film that leaves no escape from evil aberrant sports, and his previous films were usually sad and disconsolate, yet tinged with mocking irony ( The Kingdom - The Kingdom ) in a frown sardonic, opinionated ( Epidemic, Europa), a playfulness that touches the cold and sadism that made the director disliked by many in the audience (think of the ambiguity of a movie like "The Five Obstructions", or contempt shown for the human race in "The Boss"), or an open-ended change, the hope of the advent of a greater good (or at least equivalent) to the evil that was shown during the narration ( the Waves destiny). Antichrist is not none of this: it is not fun, do not have a happy ending, is not at all pleasant as vision, is indeed disturbing. Questa presa di posizione, che espone il regista e la sua opera ad una pressione ed attenzione altissima, è conseguente al fatto che Antichrist sia l'incarnazione film of its creator: Lars von Trier is the Antichrist, the one who destroys, disrupts, shattering ideals and certainties to give us in exchange for pain, suffering and despair (Grief, Pain, Despair, the "three beggars" who have so much importance in the unfolding events recounted).

The world told by von Trier (and thus, in his view, our reality) is finally free of Christ, of any kind, good and merciful God. E'anzi a world hostile to man, starting from Nature, treacherous, wild, unmanageable, not to mention human nature, chaotic, nihilistic, destructive, and (therefore) self-destructive. This manifests itself in particular in the relationship between Man and Woman: Two opposites that attract without being able to be reconciled, even eroded one another, and not allowing the coexistence of both, one prevails over the other, and in particular the Man on Woman. "Let me weep over my cruel fate / And I long for freedom," reads the famous aria of Handel's Rinaldo, the soundtrack of the film.
But if the woman's fate is sealed, does not go much better for the Men's tortured, tortured and finally alone.

rich sequences masterful, unusual intensity and violence, beautifully played by two actors exceptional, marked by a memorable soundtrack and a photograph, Antichrist is simply an unmissable film, unbelievable and unforgettable.

How Long Does Insurance Take After An Accident

Tighten Stock Cva Wolf

Next stop: hell

(The Midnight Meat Train) by Ryuhei Kitamura - USA 2008 - horror - 100min.

Leon Kauffman (Bradley Cooper) is a fledgling photographer who is nominated by a major dealer to procure material for an interesting show. Leon then begins to dig into the slums of LA in search of interesting subjects. His nightly patrols led him underground, where he foils an attempt to harassment of a girl by a group of thugs. But he also discovered another: shady individual who appears to be a murderess magazine. Leon began to keep an eye on, but the situation will become complicated with unpleasant consequences for him and his girlfriend.

Red Black White Birthday Invitation

Review: King Arthur (Director's Cut)

Antoine Fuqua - USA / UK / Ireland 2004 - Adventure - 134min.

The claims of historical veracity, very faint indeed, are not discussed here.
It tells the legend of Artorius (Clive Owen), Romano-British soldier driving a band of Sarmatian (Eurasian tribes submissive the Romans and forced all'arruolamento forced), and their struggle against the Saxons that threaten to make inroads into Hadrian's Wall.

Film highly spectacular does not hesitate to trace with unusual care (for a film like that) the psychology of the protagonist (and some supporting actor), divided between Roman and Britishness, faith and reason, self-assertion and obedience. The great battle scenes, well done, are justly alternating with long descriptive moments, but unfortunately the film has several shortcomings: a not particularly brilliant screenplay does not help involvement, excessive canonicity of the characters and the unforgivable lack of detail in the characterization of some of them (the bad acting just enough ...); Merlin and a director anonymous, all serve to precipitate the film below the average.

Periodontal Disease Treatment,too Expensive

review: 20 cigarettes

of Aureliano Amadei - Italy 2010 - Biography - 94min.

The life of the then aspiring filmmaker Aureliano Amadei (Vinicio Marchioni) before and after the attack in Nasiriyah (11/12/2003, which killed as a result of the explosion of a tanker driven by Iraqi terrorists, 19 Italians and 9 Iraqis).

the film narrative consists of three blocks: the first describes the life of Amador in Rome, before the accident: among centers, directing aspirations, friend / lover and a mother's unbearable. So a normal life, until the opportunity arose to be able to be assistant director for the documentary Stefano Rolla, who is about to go to Iraq to make a docu-drama on the Italian military mission, is an environmental description is not original, but it is helpful to immerse themselves in character.
The second block describes the experience of Iraqi Amadei, the first few days of acclimatization in the military and the news of the attack, the American hospital stay and return home, is the most exciting moment, and also what to leave more upset. It would be very interesting if the description of military life and soldiers had been more detailed. All invece accade in fretta, senza grande approfondimento.
Tecnicamente valido, falls a bit 'in recitative.
So, so.

Van Kampen Mutual Funds

Review: Long Weekend (2008)

Jamie Blanks - Australia 2008 - thriller - 88min.

Remake of the 1978 film of the same name.
A couple in crisis, Peter (Jim Caviezel) and Carla (Claudia Karvan), leave the dog with him for a weekend on a secluded beach known only by surfers. They should go with a couple of friends, but can not find your way. There, Peter is dedicated to his favorite activities while Carla is increasingly impatient. The report, instead of improving, more and more serious. What's more the nature seems to want to avenge the two, whose behavior is very anti-ecological ...

The film begins well, with excellence featuring the two protagonists, both well understood. Technically valid, the film unfortunately bloats a lot in the second half, undecided whether or not explain what is happening in the environment surrounding the two characters. Accumulate as a series of strange facts and / or unbelievable without many explanations, with results that sometimes fall into the ridiculous involuntary (the dugong is more tenderness than fear), and a final splatter that indicates a lack of ideas between director and screenplay, who opt for this easy solution. Excessively ambitious, the film does not have an adequate philosophical and conceptual framework to support it, and thus ends on a cryptic symbolism and uninteresting.
bad.

Review: Wild Man Blues

Barbara Kopple - USA 1998 - documentary - 104min.

Documentary on the musical tour that Woody Allen undertaken in Europe with his New Orleans Jazz Band. "

More than a music documentary, is primarily a private look at Woody Allen, whose films Kopple some interesting moments: the performances on stage, as you move from one city to another, the relationship with his sister and his partner, the relationship with the fans, some of his actions off the field. It 's the portrait of a director on
generis grew up with the music of New Orleans, which has been in love since childhood.
Allen emerges as a complex man, paranoid and not very funny, clever verbally, musically gifted, sad and gloomy.

How Much Does An Ohio License Plate Cost

Review: Flower of the equinox

Higanbana ) by Yasujiro Ozu - Japan 1958 - Comedy - 118min.

Ozu's first color film, adapted from a novel by Ton Satomi, deals with the change of Japanese family in the '50s.

Wataru Hirayama (Shin Saburi), a businessman from the enviable position of working, he wants to marry his daughter more, now of marriageable age, which refuses the system of arranged marriage by their parents, as was common practice in old Japan. Hirayama One day he met the young clerk Taniguchi, in love with the daughter (and reciprocated), requesting the hand. The father is very hard to accept the marriage for love, without financial guarantees special and certainly not decided by him. We will create a conflict between father and daughter who, thanks to the role of mediator Hirayama's wife, Kiyoko (Kinuyo Tanaka), will result in a happy ending.

Despite the novelty of color, is a film in Ozu-style, is the director of his favorite themes (the evolution of the institution Japanese family and relationships among its members) with his usual estate car, his calm and relaxed pace, the hatching of diverse psychologies of the characters, music and traditional elegance of the frame. Stylistically it's a film that does not appear to be in step with the times, since it does not offer anything innovative. Ozu seems to make a single, very long film, while keeping the same style, always focusing on the same subject but from time to time by adopting different perspectives. For this reason also Equinox Flower of vision is a pleasant and at times fascinating, even for its historical and social significance.

Interesting Facts About Syphilis

review: Cul-de-Sac

Roman Polanski - UK 1966 - grotesque - 111min.

Two thugs take refuge after a hit gone wrong, in an isolated manor house (which at high tide is surrounded by water) once owned by a famous writer, now home of a bourgeois couple. One of the criminals is mortally wounded, so surly companion Dickie (Lionel Stander, excellent) to pay to look after him and call their boss to ask for help. Dickie starts off in the pathetic line man of the house, George (Donald Pleasance), which is actually even disparaged by the sensual wife Teresa (Françoise Dorléac). Among the three starts a vicious game of power and balance of forces that results in a final hallucinated.

Among the first film Polanski is the most paradigmatic of his personal style: there appear many of the elements of his previous films (and future), seasoned with a dose of black humor that is the hallmark of the Polish director.
As often happens in his films, the story takes place in an isolated place (a dead end, of course) surrounded by the sea (polanskiane element present in many films), the abstraction of the setting and history is therefore the means through which Polanski describes the psychology of his characters and the ways (sudden, nervous, excessive) with which they interact. Just as it Knife in the Water, everything revolves around a triangle, where the two men "contend" the attention of the woman, object of desire for excellence and therefore tempting, cruel, cold and unreachable (no one "wins" at the end), the film is a moving vortex character (similar to that of the many birds that inhabit the island) looking for something that even they know, trapped in a situation (life itself?) that does not allow an escape from the cul-de-sac (the head of the bandits that never comes).
shot a beautiful B & W that makes the story even more abstract and symbolic, is a great film that combines in one fell swoop many of the advantages of film Polanski.

Review: Reincarnation

Evitabile, comunque.

review: Summer's Blood (aka: Summer's Moon)

di Lee Demarbre - Canada 2009 - thriller - 91min.

Summer (Ashley Greene) è una ragazza che ha abbandonato his mother's house to go in search of his father, who has never known. Arrived in the village of his native country of his father, is kidnapped by the mad Tom (Peter Mooney), which binds young women in the cellar, with the complicity of the mother.

It 's a film that, while referring to the long tradition of families of lunatics who inhabit the rural areas of America, try to be more morbid the other dealing with the incest taboo. However dares too little, and the attempt is feeble and known. The main problem with film is that it has chosen a thorny issue but have decided not to deal decisively with a likely lack of courage, pity, because the acting is good and the plot is not bad. Film
unsatisfactory and devoid of elements that justify the council vision.

Make A Woman Wrestler Online

Review: L ' angel of vengeance

(Ms. 45) Abel Ferrara - USA 1980 - thriller - 84min.

NY: a mute girl named Thana (Zo ë Lund) undergoes a double rape on the same day, one by a guy on the street and dragged her into an alley, the other in his apartment by a criminal who has infiltrated. Thana succeeds but to kill his second assailant and took possession of his pistol, 45 caliber. Since then changes completely and turns into a vengeful and murderous woman who's cool as long as many different men is killed, ironically, by a woman.

Trash define ridiculous is an understatement. The only reason you might see this film is the final part that sees the main character dressed as a nun and armed with a pistol he assigns his divine punishment for the losers during a costume party. Ferrara is the porn and it shows. Also good for giving the many absurdities of the film (for example, that Thana become overnight a ruthless killer by the unerring aim) was impossible to survive the acting mediocre, the script is reduced to a string of murders, the poor soundtrack and poverty technique at all (Ferrara has never been particularly gifted technically, but here, where there is practically only the front shooting at eye level with some detail, what is clear). Film director
a horrible overrated.

review: Soldier Blue

(Soldier Blue) by Ralph Nelson - USA 1970 - Westerns - 114min.

To tell the shameful episode of the Sand Creek Massacre (November 29, 1864), made by the Blue Jackets headed by Colonel John Chivington against a tribe of Apaches and Arapaho, Nelson adopts the point of view of two characters fiction: a young soldier of noble values \u200b\u200bHonus Gent (Peter Strauss) and the attractive Kathy Lee (Candice Bergen), a woman who lived for a long period with Ceyenne.
Most of the film is about their adventures following an Indian attack at a caravan that leaves as the only two survivors. Their return home is long and fraught with danger, their characters seem irreconcilable and the company impossible. E 'tale of an adventurous journey with many aspects predictable but always enjoyable and stimulating, in the terrible massacre end all hope, all carefree eclipse in favor of horror that only human cruelty can generate.
still remarkable for the very strong emotional impact that captures the viewer, is a well made film that makes us think about the abominations that our species can get to make.

Guideline Value Chennai

Reviews: Everyone Says I Love You

(Everyone Says I Love You) di Woody Allen - USA 1996 - commedia - 101min.

There is also a doting grandfather cared for the home.

musical comedy (choreographed interludes of music style swing 30-40 orchestrated by Dick Hyman) a lot of fun that runs through all three of Allen's favorite cities (NY, Paris, Venice), centered on the disarray that love generates in people's lives. Many elements surreal (the ballet of ectoplasm at all) in a film that wants to be carefree and joyous music. It 's a joy for the ears and eyes, and all your characters are sympathetic and convincing.
The final dance between Allen and Hawn, justly famous, has a magic and simplicity at the same time that moves, and only applies to the entire film.

Classic comedy with Woody Allen English variant of the setting, which adapt accordingly music and photography, warm and languid.
For the rest there are the usual ingredients: couples who break out, people who find it difficult to weave long-term relationships, people are prey to the feelings and inability to achieve a sustainable balance of mind. All in pleasing tones of a comedy without comedy or sad moments too.
passable, but already seen.

What To Do With A Black Couch

Review: Fourth Commandment

(La Passion Béatrice) Bertrand Tavernier - France 1987 - drama - 131min.

Con questo film Tavernier riflette sull'abominio del male e sull'effetto deleterious that it has on people: those who are victims of evil ends up as the intermediary. This is explicit in both the prologue, which shows the roots of madness in a François infant, and in the epilogue, which rhymes with the beginning and the story ends in a circle, implying that the evil will continue to perpetrate in the future.
With a setting and a photograph of essential cold, the French film conveys a sense of discomfort and disgust, and the ugly story, told in pictures without indulging too much, can cause with its underlying and deep anxiety in many sequences, reaching perhaps 'in the apex of the grotesque "marriage" between father and daughter.

review: The Addiction - Vampires in New York

Il tema della presenza del male nel mondo come inevitabile poichè costitutivo della persona umana è abituale in Ferrara, here particularly nihilistic, who says that evil is the real disease that infects the world and which man can not escape, like a drug, then the rejection of evil and redemption seems Christian needing to coincide with the "death" (as it Bad Lieutenant).
Shot in B / N, is a philosophical horror of interesting content that is not always able to visually support the thesis in his narrative (which is very ambiguous in the final).
Interesting, but not very successful.
naturalistic acting, but a bit 'apathy of many characters.

After the battle that ends with the escape of Wesker, Alice goes to Arcadia, a place free from infection, it said in a statement that intercepted radio. Can not find anything, but he meets her friend Claire, but it does not recognize it because it was installed un coso che la controlla mentalmente.

Sayings For Birthday Invitations, 2 Nd

review: Matchpoint

La colonna sonora, interamente composed operatic songs performed by Caruso, is a perfect complement to the unfolding of events.
The photograph is perfect, accurate to the millimeter, without the slightest smear, different from the usual: Remi Adefarasin confers a cold harmony to the composition.
The crucial point on which Allen focuses is the case is important, not fate, but just random, fortuitous concatenation of disparate events that govern our lives. Sometimes it is good sometimes go wrong: sometimes the crimes are punished and sometimes not. There is no higher law, no supreme authority, no divine justice to assign rewards and punishments. In this film the director has expressed all his system of thought with precision, clarity and completeness can not be read into any other film produced to date (I've seen).
Matchpoint is the Bible of atheism, Allen and his prophet.

Walter Salles - USA 2005 - drama / horror - 105min.

Japanese remake of Dark Water Hideo Nakata.
Dahlia (Jennifer Connelly) has just separated from her husband, and moved with her daughter in a huge, dilapidated housing complex on Roosevelt Island, NY
The apartment is shabby and the ceiling a bit 'musty because of a leak in plumbing. In the rainy days that followed, Dahlia will have to deal with the vengeful spirit of a mysterious girl who seems to disappear infest the building.

As we all know the American remake are little more than an excuse for people to work in times of crisis, the films themselves are totally unnecessary. This film, though made with care and well-acted, has all the usual defects of the remake made in the USA: smoothing of the mystery in all ways to try to explain every little detail (as if the viewer was deficient and will not get there alone) , introduction of non-required and totally insipid (the absurd rhyme, used countless clichés times) and boring story. You save only a certain atmosphere.

Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex * (* But Were Afraid to Ask)

( Evreything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex * (But Were Afraid to Ask) ) Woody Allen - USA 1972 - comic - 88min.

episodic film inspired by the popular book of the same name David Reuben sexologist.

-Aphrodisiacs Work? In
unknown medieval castle, the court jester (Allen) receives the spirit of the deceased father with the task of seducing the lady of the palace, for it turns to a sorcerer who prepares a love potion, but things take a bad fold.

Under the utter nonsense, it's fun but also quite dismal.

-What is sodomy?
A doctor (Gene Wilder) gets in his study reveals that an Armenian shepherd in love with one of his sheep named Daisy. When you show it to him, the doctor takes a tremendous crush on sexy sheep, and are driven by a troubled relationship. After

Black Sheep - Sheep Killer , is another film that will make you see the sheep under very special perspective. Hilarious.

-Why do some women have difficulty reaching orgasm?
In Italy, Faustino (Allen) does not know how to meet the wife of Bologna, apparently frigid.

-What are the sexual perversions?
Fake TV quiz show called "What's my perversion?", In which several competitors in turn speak of the matter. And 'the episode's weakest and least fun.

studies on sex-reliable?
Inbox villa eminent scientist, a student (Allen) and a comely journalist discovers that the scientist is completely crazy and has tacked a laboratory in which he depraved experiments. the two destroy everything, but from the house on fire out a tit giant breast that slaughters people to death.

Parody of horror fiction of the '50s, only fun if you're in the game.

-What happens during ejaculation?
That is the approach of a sexual man to a woman seen from inside the human body.

One of the most successful episodes, full of gags and found insane.

Conclusion: typical comedy idiot the coach first manner, the quality of the episodes is fluctuating, but the film is an excellent opportunity to get a laugh.

Low Calorie Tequila Drinks

review: Zelig

Woody Allen - USA 1983 - comedy / mockumentary - 79min.

It 's a fake documentary set in the thirties in New York on Leonard Zelig, jew, who developed the incredible ability to transform into any type of individual is equal before him; scientists studying the case of Zelig interpret the behavior as a psychological mechanism to try to be accepted by the community. The doctor who looks after him, Eudora Fletcher (Mia Farrow), able to treat him and marry him. The whole story is told by a narrator television documentary style, complete with faux vintage footage and interviews with personalities in the intellectual part of them the same.

It 's the most original film of Allen, a masterpiece of technology: thanks to the excellent special effects and an amazing assembly is credibilissima historical reconstruction. It 's a fairly complex movie that's not clear where he wants to end up, perhaps it is the History of the difficulty of integration of Jews into American society?
The suspicion is that it is more like a performance by the egomaniac genius of the director and his overflowing imagination. To limit the exercise of style, is a film to take or leave.

Words For Invitation For Lohri

Dearborn, Michigan

Some time ago I posted on a Swiss weekly ACTION Pezzullo titled "That minaret on a Ford, which reported some interesting peculiarities of the new mosque in Dearborn, Michigan
( http://epaper.azione.ch/ee/azion/_main_ / 2009/07/06/027/azion-_main_-2009-07-06-027.pdf or http://bricioledamerica.blogspot.com/2009/10/il-minareto-di-via-ford.html ). The idea
me had provided a proposed new article in the Swiss constitution which, if accepted in popular vote, would have introduced the ban on building minarets in Switzerland. For those who do not know how things went: the constitutional amendment was accepted, in Switzerland not be able to build minarets, Muslims in Switzerland have to make do with the land (if I remember correctly) four existing minarets. Translated density: a 10'321 square kilometers each.

Today I get the same Dearborn, Michigan, another interesting news: a daughter of that city just outside Detroit and home to the Ford won the Miss USA contest. The nice young lady is Lebanese immigrant in the U.S. as a child and (apparently) of mixed Christian-Muslim family
( http://thelede.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/05/17/in-miss-usa- contest-a-novel-twist / )
Dearborn did feast. As for me, not a believer and I hate beauty contests, but I concur the festivities: America always manages to surprise me.

Brushes! First post

I'm finally back with a new post, and this time I created this little illustration with the iPhone, and more specifically with an interesting program, Brushes, I must say a good program if you do not pretend to do something professional, better suited to throw Image sketches and ideas rather than too complex and final illustrations. I still had fun and the controls are very intuitive and well made, definitely Recommended! The first image above is my drawing out the iPhone and the second is with Some adjustments in photoshop.

I have to say a good program if you do not pretend to do something professional, better suited to throw ideas and sketches illustrated pictures rather than complex and too final.
I still had fun and the controls are intuitive and very well done, highly recommended!

Tamil Actor Vijay Hindu Or Christian

the expert of the dangers of the Internet

MEZZOCORONA. Her name is Michele Facci, 23 years old, and makes a very special job: teaching young people (and the not so young) to know and avoid the dangers of the network. The dangers of the Internet, in fact. A new phenomenon and continues to grow. A phenomenon that also includes one of the seven, a standard in the network. For example, those who praise anorexia, as told by our young expert: "In Italy - states in fact do - it is estimated that over 300,000 websites, including blogs and forums, which incite discomfort through food practices that lead to anorexia or bulimia. Specifically, those in favor of anorexia are called pro-ana sites and those a favore della bulimia, meno diffusi, sono invece chiamati siti pro-mia». Topic of discussion: the Internet and dangerous cults. Michele face is the computer expert who, once a week, on Thursday, is available to club members Mezzocorona elderly to help them solve their problems with phones, computers and anything else you can put in so-called "new technologies ". Including television set-top box. An important help that the members appreciate it. So how much appreciation they have the courses that our expert conducts twice a year (a basic course and one advanced) to teach computer use. Or how to use word processors, such as "surfing" on the Internet, how to write and send e-mail. Explaining the method with all simple and friendly teacher-student approach, because I is not just a computer expert, but it is also a graduate in psychology. A communicator, then, who knows how to deal properly with people of all ages.

the song of old lovers

...

but it took talent to be able to grow old without growing up
.

My love, my sweet love my wonderful,
clear from dawn till the day dies
know I still love you, love you.

Time passes and discourage us, on our way
torments,
but tell me, is no worse
that threatens love with monotony?

American health care reform

Health is a right in the USA. And this thanks to an African American president whose name is Barack Obama . Thanks to him, 32 million Americans lacking until recently, will have the compertura health. At this point, has no more than skin color of this president - who, in order to bring home this reform has agreed to see his popularity drop to the minimum that put at great risk to his re-election for a second term - but what counts is means a person who has all the features to make history for his human greatness. And it's a great man I have no doubt, now more than ever.

Leaking Vigian Images

A camminare sugli Appalachi

These days the "memoir" is a literary genre that is the most popular, at least in the United States. Sells well but leaves much perplexed, and does a little 'worth thinking about the innocent trees (perhaps the Appalachians?) Sacrificed for dubious purposes.
Two recent gems: Going Rogue Sarah Palin ( already running mate, the one who when asked by Katie Couric of CBS News "What papers laws?", after long moments of great peril replied, "All") and Still Standing Carrie Prejean (Miss California, anni 23, qualche banale polemichetta alle spalle: ma che mai avrà da raccontare, a quella giovane età?).

All'occhio svizzero, i monti Appalachi paiono un'interminabile theory of gentle hills that only sometimes deserve to be called mountains. History, however, treats them with respect, because pretty much three centuries ago represented the first serious obstacle encountered by the colonists in their long march to the west. And then, even timid when approached Eiger or the Matterhorn, are a magnificent landscape, especially in autumn, when you announce from afar with a grand symphony of vivid colors.

And sometimes they still manage to make the news. As in June this year (Ed: it was 2009) , when he disappeared for a week from his office, the governor of South Carolina Mark Sanford.

Eppure Pickens, a modo suo, è affascinante, è la struggente testimonianza to what - in America - "yesterday, today and tomorrow" are words to be taken literally, yesterday you were born, live and prosper today, tomorrow you die. Like a firework, the existence of Pickens was burned very quickly, incomprehensible to the European traveler: a century or so.
Founded in the late nineteenth century, the village had a rapid development due to the timber: To take it away from the mountains, had come to even the Pickens Railway (of which few traces remain today in the weeds and vines).

(Pickens, WV: The former railway station)

And with the railroad and the lumber business booming, Pickens had grown to fifteen hundred inhabitants. And at some point in his short life was a gift - there it tells the official history of Pickens, 280 pages hardcover binding - "The Opera House": yes, the Opera. Of course, you will not have the scale, but he was the tangible proof that business is pulled, the people there, that money in circulation, that the future was bright. At the beginning of 900, next to the Opera House, Pickens boasted four hotels.

(Pickens, WV: Hotels Pickens)

It is not known how many Michelin stars is deserved, however it seems that they were a bit 'noisy and troubled throughout the weekend, when the alcohol flowed, before after and during Prohibition (the illegal distilling tradition and pride of West Virginia). Then the timber industry was in crisis, it is replaced with the mining of coal. Then the veins were exhausted, the people went away, and Pickens and Opera House and four hotels was death. Today
Pickens and his twenty or thirty people endure stoically between the Appalachians as they were in the village of Asterix the Gaul. As a reminder of the glories of the past remains - gorgeous, poignant, irresistible in its boundless malinconia – il Pickens Hotel.

Mi guardo intorno: alcune casette più o meno dignitose, a church, a shop with an attached pump fuel, the fire hall, the former train station of the deceased, a luxury villa ("Ah, forget it, those do not talk to anyone."). I struggle to grasp the urgency of a renewed Pickens Hotel. Ronnie becomes serious and explains: "With the world population continues to grow, sooner or later someone will come here."
A walk on the Appalachian, maybe ...

(Pickens, WV: Hotels Pickens)

Apostille for my compatriots and for the curious:

Problems With Samsung Hdd Recorder

nothing to understand

The stars are many millions of millions,
the lamplight is reflected on the shiny road. Sitting
or not seated, I always do my part,
with the core and the heart that will not start.
But John, I still remember, but
is a memory that is worth ten pounds,
and there is nothing to understand.
My wife has many, many men, each
is a gamble,
lost every morning, coffee in the mirror.
I love her wrinkles, but she does not understand,
has a heart of a baker and perhaps betrays me.
But John was the best, but
is a memory that is worth ten pounds,
and there is nothing to understand.
If you were ice, and I was made of snow,
how cold my love, think carefully to make love.
E 'right what you say, but your kicks hurt,
I envy you nothing and have nothing special.
But if your eyes were cherries,
I would have nothing to say,
and there is nothing to understand.
E 'love too long, we play chess,
tell me that you're winning and they laugh like crazy.
But I did not know who was playing, I can give it to you
won, keep my life
But if one day return to these parts,
bring me back my eyes and your rifle.
And there's nothing to understand.

(Francesco De Gregori album of 1974)
